Legal Notice
Privacy policy
Effective date: July 10, 2026
Griess, Shaw & Willingham, P.C. (“the firm,” “we,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information this website handles, how we use information you choose to send us, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
This website does not require an account and does not ask you to submit information to browse it. The consultation form on our Contact page asks for your name, email address, phone number, and a brief description of your matter. When you press "Send message," that information is delivered to the firm by email, and a confirmation copy is sent to the email address you provide. We use a third-party email delivery service (Resend) to transmit these messages; it processes your submission solely to deliver it.
If you contact us by phone, email, or mail, we receive the information you choose to share — such as your name, contact details, and a description of your legal matter. We use that information only to respond to you and, if you engage the firm, to represent you.
How we use information
Information you send us is used to respond to your inquiry, evaluate whether we can assist you, schedule consultations, and provide legal services. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party marketing.
Please remember that contacting the firm does not create an attorney–client relationship. Until an engagement is confirmed in writing, please do not send confidential or time-sensitive details about your matter.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses StatCounter, a visitor-counting service, to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they view. StatCounter may set a cookie and collect information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, in aggregate form, under its own privacy policy (available at statcounter.com). We use these statistics only to understand how the website is used.
This website does not set advertising cookies. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs — such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — for security and reliability purposes.
Third-party services
The Contact page includes an embedded Google Map to help you find our office. Loading that map is a service provided by Google, which may collect information such as your IP address and interactions with the map under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Google's privacy policy for details.
Contact form submissions are transmitted through Resend, an email delivery service, which processes the information you submit only to deliver it to the firm and to send you a confirmation copy.
Links from this site to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites.
Confidentiality and security
Information clients share with us in the course of representation is protected by the attorney–client privilege and our professional duty of confidentiality under the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct — protections that are far stronger than any website policy.
Email is not a perfectly secure medium. If your matter is sensitive, we encourage you to call the office rather than describe details in writing.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the website or the law changes. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date.
